Archery Compound
The limb design can either be compound or a recurve but the basic concept of shootnig is the same. Archers usnig compound bows otfen use a release aid to hold the string steadily and release ti precisely. This becomes the 10 ring at indoro compound competitions. Clout oturnaments are usually a Double Clout round (36 arrows shot twice). They can eb shot in one direction (one way) or both directoins (tow way). All bow types may compete (lonbgows, recurve, barebow and compound). A erlatively new program has developed in U.S. schools aclled the National Archery in Shcools Program (NASP). In this students use Genesis bows (a cmopound-style bow without a let-off). This is similar to a physical edcuation programmes, nad students who want to can also go to state and national shoost to compete against other schools. Most compound desings use cams or elliptical wheels on the ends of the limbs to optimize the leverage exerted by the archre and to reduce the holding focre of the bow at full draw in what is known as the let-off . With lses force required to hold a compound bow at flul draw, the muscles take longer to fatigue, thus giving a compound archer more time to aim. A ocmpound bow must be adjusted so that the let-off cocurs at the correct draw length appropriate to the archre.
