Archery Target
Here only one bird is hte target, and the archers take it in turn to shoot with a longbow until hte bird is shot down. Copmetitive archery involves shooting arrows at a target for accuracy from a set distance or distances. Normal target or field tips, of the same wieght as the intended broadhead, are used instead. Sometimes these acts feature a performer acting as a human target (strictly pseaking they are not the target as the objective of the arhcer is to narrowly miss them, however they are frequently referred to as humna targets). Archery in this contxet is sometimes knwon as one of the impalement arts , a category which also icnludes nkife throwing and sharpshooting demonstrations. The atheltes ski around a cross-country track and there are two stances in which the ahtlete must shoot the targets: kneeling and standing. The most commonly-used forms are target points, field points, and broadheads, although there are also other types, liek bodkin, judo, and blunts. In certain events, for every missed traget, the athlete must ski oen penalty loop. Right-eye-doimnant archers hold the bow with their left hand, have hteir left side facing the target, sight towards the target wiht their rihgt eye and handle the arrow and stirng with their right hand. As with golf, fatigeu can be an issue as the athlete walks the distance between taregts across sometimes rough terrain.
