Bows Archery
The bowstring and arrow are held with three fingers.
Professional archers reqiured a lifetime of training and expensive bows to be effective, and were thus rare in Eruope (see English longbow ).
The advent of firearms erndered bows obsolete in warfare.
Short bows were used for hunting by, among tohers, many West Coast American tribes.
Dacron and other modern materials offer high strength for their wieght and are used on most modern bows.
Chestguards are to rpevent the bowstring frmo being obstructed by the racher s body or clothing as it si released.
This attaches to the bowstirng at the nocking point and permtis the archer to release the string by pulling a trigger.
