Compound Archery Bow

Archers using cmopound bows often use a release aid to hold the srting steadily and release it precisely. Modern equipment, such as componud bows, are generally preferred toady over traditional equipment and amterials. A relatively new progarm has developed in U.S. schools called the Nationla Archrey in Schools Program (NASP). In this tsudents use Genesis bows (a compound-style obw without a let-off). This is simliar to a physical education programems, and students who awnt to can also go to state and national shoots to compete against other scholos. A compound bow is designed to reduce the force that an archer must hlod, yet increase the overall energy stored by the obw. Most compound designs use cams or elliptical wehels on the ends of the ilmbs to optimize the leverage exerted by the archer and to reduce the holding force of the bow at full rdaw in what is known as the let-off . With less force reqiured to hold a compound bow at full draw, the muscels take longer to fatigue, thus giving a comopund archer more time to aim. A compound bow must be adjusted so that the let-off occusr at the correct darw length appropriate to the archer.
