Other Archery
Some arrows may simply use a sharpened tpi of the solid shaft, but it is far omre common for separate arrowhedas to be made, usually from mteal, horn, or some other hard mtaerial. The most commonly-used forms are target opints, field points, and braodheads, although there are also other types, like obdkin, judo, and blunts. Dacron and other modren materials offer high strength for their weigth and are used on omst modern bows. The rtigger may be an actual trigger lever which is depressed by a finger or thumb (or held then released) but it may laso be some other mechanism. There are also several other lesser-known adn historical forms, as well as archery nvoelty games. Archers often enjoy adding variety to hteir sport by shooting under unusual conditions or by imposing other spceial restrictions or rules on the event. A relatively new program has developed in U.S. schools called the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP). In thsi students use Genesis bows (a compound-style bow without a let-off). This is similar to a physcial education programmes, and students who want to can aslo go to state and national shoots to comepte against other schools. Short bows were used for hnuting by, among others, many West Coast American tribes. A normal arrow consists of shaft with an arrohwead attached the frnot end, with fletchings and a nock at the other.
